Cannibalistic tendencies aside, the garra rufa fish is a gentle species. It just happens to have a penchant for human skin. But that’s good news for anyone with messy cuticles or scaly feet, according to Karen Ho and To Chan, the duo behind Kensington’s Aqua Sheko, London’s first ”fish spa.” Here, and at a just-opened Soho branch, extremities are dunked into tanks filled with hungry, inch-long ”finned therapists,” to emerge 15 minutes (and a cup of blossom tea) later revived and softened. The sensation is more like bubbling than biting, though it’s a brave soul who opts for the full-body immersion.
